Startup Pittsburgh, founded on February 1st, 2009, is a blog dedicated to profiling and reviewing startups in the Pittsburgh region.

The goal of this blog is to show everyone that Pittsburgh is the place for ideas. A secondary goal is to promote the companies and ideas that make this region so exciting.

Startup Pittsburgh is owned, edited, and hosted by Jason Mosley. Blog posts are written by Jason Mosley, Carrie L. Smith, Chuck Reynolds, and other contributors.


Jason Mosley is the Editor-in-Chief of the Startup Pittsburgh. Other projects he works on are MrBaconpants (bacon blog), Pagewaiter (personal blog), and OMG Play This! (iphone blog). He has also done freelance blogging/writing for Crunch Gear, Mobile Crunch, and Touch Arcade.

Carrie L. Smith is the Managing Editor. She functions as the Startup Pittsburgh’s content generator, contributor, HR contact and grammar czar.

Jonathan is a local entrepreneur and consultant. He has worked for both giant corporations (IBM) and from the CEO’s basement and finds he likes to stay near the energy of startups. He’s taken this passion to the Burghosphere, running the Blog of Burgher Jon and an active Twitter account (@BurgherJon).

Past Contributors:

Chuck Reynolds is a technologist by trade. He brings a technical eye to business problems – with a keen understanding of both. Chuck moves to Pittsburgh to pursue his Masters of Information Systems at the Heinz College of Carnegie Mellon University. While studying he worked with a number of Pittsburgh start-ups identifying growth opportunities and formulating social media strategies. Chuck currently works for Deloitte Consulting LLP assisting his clients on solving their toughest technological issues. Jami Broom is an Internet Marketing Strategist and founder of ClicksToMySite.com, a Pittsburgh-based search engine marketing company that helps small businesses grow by increasing traffic to their websites through pay-per-click advertising and search engine optimization.
